What the site stores without an account
You can use the site without logging in. It then stores nothing about you on the server. Your browser keeps only choices you make yourself:
- The cookie
moderemembers PvP or PvE for a year. During a Discord login there are, for ten minutes, the cookiesoauth_state(a guard against forged logins) andlogin_next(the page you return to). - The browser’s local storage holds your key ring (
tarkov-helper-keys), your hideout counts (tarkov-helper-have) and the map layers you switched on (planner-layers,editor-layers). None of it leaves your browser.
There are no analytics, no ads, and no fonts or scripts from other servers.
Logging in with Discord
Routes, squads, progress and settings need a Discord login. With the identify permission Discord sends your Discord ID, your display name and your avatar. The site stores these three and the time of your last visit (updated at most once an hour). Discord’s access token is not stored. The login itself happens on Discord, where Discord’s privacy policy applies.
The cookie session keeps you logged in for 30 days and is renewed while you use the site. The database
holds only a hash of it. Expired sessions are deleted; “Log out” deletes the session at once.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR: without an account there are no saved routes, squads or progress.
What you create with your account
With an account the site stores what you create: saved routes, votes for community routes, squads and memberships, quest and hideout progress, your key ring, map reports, and settings (faction, level, side, language, game mode).
Of that, others can see:
- Routes you publish to the community, with your name; they are public.
- In a squad: your name, avatar, your squad routes and your progress on squad tasks.
- Mappers see who wrote a map report.
- Admins see a list of all accounts with Discord ID, name, avatar, sign-up and last-visit dates, and the number of saved routes.
Live squad sessions
A live session keeps the route, the marks and the pings members place on the map in the server’s memory only, with the names of those taking part. Positions are points you pick on the map yourselves, not device tracking. After three hours without activity, or when the server restarts, it is all gone.
Discord webhooks
A squad’s owner can add a Discord webhook. Only when a member explicitly posts a route does the site send to that Discord channel: the member’s name, the route’s name and description, a link to the site, a preview image and an optional note.
Other services your browser contacts
Your browser loads map images from assets.tarkov.dev and avatars from cdn.discordapp.com. Your IP address reaches those servers, which are outside our control. The site
itself fetches game data from tarkov.dev without sending anything about you.
Server logs
The application logs no IP addresses and no user names. The web server in front of it may keep access logs with IP addresses for a short time for security.
Retention and backups
Your account and what you created stay until you delete the account. The database is backed up daily and the newest 14 backups are kept, so deleted data can remain in backups for up to about two weeks. Backups are used only to restore the site.
Your rights
- Access and portability: under Settings you can download all data of your account as a JSON file.
- Erasure: there you can delete your account with everything tied to it, at once. Squads you own are deleted with it.
- Rectification: you change settings yourself; your name and avatar come fresh from Discord at every login.
- For objection, restriction and every other right under the GDPR, write to the address above. You can also complain to a data protection authority.
Changes
This policy describes what the site does and changes when that changes.
